    What equipment does a self-service terminal manufacturer need?

    A kiosk enclosure is a cosmetic box full of holes. The front fascia carries cut-outs for a screen, a card reader, a printer, a keypad, a scanner and a cash or parcel aperture — each with a positional tolerance set by a bought-in module, not by your drawing. Body panels, doors and locker cells are then folded from 1.0 to 2.0 mm coated or stainless sheet, and the visible surface is a product feature the end customer looks at from thirty centimetres away.

    Three capabilities follow. Tooling-free cut-outs, because module suppliers change footprints between generations and a die order cannot keep up: a turret punch produces repeating fixing and ventilation patterns, and a laser cuts the bespoke apertures. Positional accuracy of ±0.1 mm, so a bezel sits square against a screen without packing. And non-contact handling, because a scratch on a fascia is scrap at full value — vacuum pick-up moves the blank in the air and protective film stays on through forming.

    Three problems specific to self-service enclosures

    The cut-outs are set by other people's components

    Screen, reader, printer and scanner footprints are defined by module suppliers who revise them on their own schedule. Any process that needs a dedicated die per aperture cannot follow. Turret punching for repeating fixing and ventilation patterns, plus laser cutting for bespoke apertures, means a module change is a program edit rather than a tooling order.

    A fascia scratch is scrap at full assembly value

    The front panel is the most expensive sheet metal part in the unit by the time it is coated, and it is the part a customer looks at closely. Handling damage cannot be polished out of a powder-coated or brushed fascia. Vacuum pick-up with a patented 360° rotating feeder keeps the visible face out of contact from blank to stack, with protective film retained through forming.

    Parcel lockers are a volume problem inside a variant problem

    A locker bank is dozens of identical cells in a body that changes with every site. The cells reward automation and repetition; the body rewards changeover speed. Configuring for only one of the two is the most common mistake we see in this sector.

    Right fit

    Four-sided fascias, bodies, doors and locker cells in 1.0–2.0 mm with dense module cut-outs and a cosmetic visible face. Tooling-free punching plus non-contact handling is exactly the combination this sector needs.

    Wrong fit

    Deep-drawn housings, extruded frame profiles, roll-formed structural members, small bezel components below the minimum four-sided forming size, and heavy plinths above 2.0 mm at full bend length.

    Keep a press brake

    Base plinths in heavier gauge, anchoring plates, vandal-resistant reinforcement and prototype fascias. A press brake alongside the cell handles all of these without disrupting volume work.

    Standards this equipment is built and guarded to

    Risk assessment follows EN ISO 12100; safety-related control functions such as light-curtain interruption and emergency stop are specified to EN ISO 13849-1. Hydraulic press brakes supplied into the EU are built against EN 12622. Machines placed on the EU market carry CE marking under Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC with the accompanying technical file. Quality management is certified to ISO 9001, and machined structural tolerances follow ISO 2768. For outdoor and semi-outdoor terminals, IEC 60529 defines the IP code the enclosure is tested against, and structural elements are commonly designed to EN 1993-1-1. Both apply to your product rather than the machine — but the panel straightness and angle consistency an ingress test depends on are established at the forming stage.

    On the machines this means fully enclosed rear fencing, protective covers on all protruding moving parts, laser guarding that halts motion when the protected zone is broken, over-tonnage protection on turret punch presses, and grating-ruler offset-load detection on panel benders.

    Laser, turret punch or punch-laser combined for fascias?

    Fascia panels are the clearest case in sheet metal for a combined machine, because a single panel carries both repeating patterns and bespoke apertures.

    Where a fascia carries a screen aperture, a card reader window and a ventilation array on one panel, a combined machine removes the re-clamping between them — which is exactly where positional error between a bezel and its module normally comes from.

    Our module suppliers change footprints between generations. How do we keep up?
    By avoiding dedicated tooling for apertures. A fiber laser cuts bespoke module openings with no tooling at all, and a turret punch handles the repeating fixing and ventilation patterns that do not change. A footprint revision then becomes a program edit rather than a die order. Where one fascia carries both types of feature, a punch-laser combined machine completes them in a single clamping.
    How accurately can cut-outs be positioned relative to each other?
    Punching accuracy is ±0.1 mm with positioning repeatability of approximately ±0.01 to 0.02 mm, held by a double rack-and-pinion drive on a patented dual-triangle beam mount. The larger source of error in practice is re-clamping between two machines, which is why a combined punch-laser machine matters on fascias: the screen aperture and the bezel fixing holes are produced in the same setup.
    How do you protect the cosmetic face?
    Feeding is by vacuum suction with a patented 360° rotating mechanism, so the blank is moved in the air rather than dragged across a table or back gauge, and protective film can remain in place through forming. On the punching side, the brush and steel-ball composite table can be configured as pure bristle brush for pre-coated panels, with stainless-steel table edging that resists scoring.
    We make parcel lockers — hundreds of identical cells but a different body every site. One cell or two?
    One, configured for both. The cells reward automatic loading and stacking with program switching between cell sizes; the bodies reward fast changeover through program recall and automatic tool change. Both capabilities live on the same machines. Configuring for only the volume side is the most common mistake in this sector, because the body work then becomes the bottleneck.
    Can it handle 2 mm vandal-resistant panels?
    At 2.0 mm cold-rolled, yes, with a cast-iron frame at full bending length; a welded frame stops at 1.5 mm. Stainless is limited to 1.2 mm on a cast frame. Heavy plinths and anchoring plates specified above those figures belong on a press brake, and we identify them from your drawings before quoting.
    How much does a terminal enclosure cell cost?
    There is no list price, because the cell is configured to your product balance between fascias and volume parts. Five factors move the figure most: whether a punch-laser combined machine is included for mixed-feature fascias, turret punch specification and tooling package, panel bender size and frame type (cast iron for 2.0 mm at full length), automation level for locker cell production, and whether a press brake is included for heavy plinths.     Can the cell run unattended on locker cell production?
    Yes. Locker cells are the ideal automation candidate in this sector — high repetition, stable geometry, consistent blanks. Automatic loading, positioning and stacking are available on both punching and bending, with fully enclosed fencing and laser guarding to EN ISO 13849-1 specified at order stage. Keep one manually loaded machine so a site-specific body variant never interrupts the cell.
