Cabin walls, car doors and landing doors up to 2800 mm in hairline and coated stainless — formed straight, formed consistent, and never touched on the decorative face.

What forming equipment does an elevator panel manufacturer need?

An elevator cabin is a set of long, flat, decorative panels that must sit flush against each other with no visible step, twist or wave — and whose surface is the product. Cabin wall panels, car door leaves, landing door leaves, ceilings and skirtings are typically 1.0 to 1.5 mm stainless steel in hairline, mirror, etched or PVD-coated finish, or coated steel, at lengths from 2000 to 2800 mm.

That drives three requirements no general-purpose machine meets well: straightness held over the full panel length so adjacent panels join flush; angle repeatability across a whole cabin set, because errors accumulate at every joint; and zero contact with the decorative face from blank to stack. The working set is a laser de fibra for blanking, a Máquina de dobrar painéis CNC in D (2500) or D+ (2800) size with a cast-iron frame for the long panels, a máquina de dobragem de borda flexível where panels need dead edges or arc returns, and a travão de prensa for stainless above the panel bender's 1.2 mm limit.

Les pièces que nous fabriquons pour

Every visible panel in the cabin and the landing

Elevator sheet metal splits into two families: long decorative panels where surface and straightness decide acceptance, and structural backing parts in heavier coated steel. The same cell handles both, with different frames and different tooling.

Three problems specific to elevator sheet metal

    01

A 2.5 m panel shows every thousandth of a degree

On a cabin wall set, four panels sit side by side. An angle error of half a degree on each becomes a visible step at the joint. Straightness of roughly 0.2 mm/m and angle accuracy of roughly ±0.5°/m are what keep the set assembling without shimming on site.

    02

    The surface is the product

Hairline, mirror and PVD finishes cannot be reworked. Every drag across a back gauge, every glove mark, every bench edge is a rejected panel at full material cost. Vacuum pick-up moves the blank in the air; the decorative face is never in contact with anything.

    03

Stainless above 1.2 mm is a different machine

This is where most enquiries go wrong. A panel bender handles stainless up to 1.2 mm at full bend length on a cast-iron frame. Many landing door specifications call for 1.5 mm. That part belongs on a press brake, or on a shorter bend length — and we say so before quoting, not after.

    Configuração recomendada

Three ways to build the cell, by panel length and finish

For elevator work, machine size is chosen by your longest cabin panel, not by average part size. Buying one size down is the most expensive saving in this industry.

Read the stainless row carefully. It is the single most common mismatch in elevator enquiries, and we would rather lose the order than supply a machine that cannot form your landing door leaf at full length.

    O ajuste certo

Long decorative panels folded on all four sides in 1.0–1.2 mm stainless or coated steel, up to 2800 mm, where straightness and angle repeatability decide whether the cabin set assembles flush.

    Tamanho errado

Roll-formed guide rails and door sill profiles, deep-drawn parts, and stainless above 1.2 mm at full bend length. Different processes, and in the case of rails, a different supplier entirely.

    Manter uma prensa-dobra

1.5 mm stainless landing door leaves, heavy structural brackets, sill and threshold parts, and low-volume special finishes. Nearly every elevator panel shop runs a press brake alongside the bender for exactly these.

For the finished lift installation, EN 81-20 e EN 81-50 set the safety and component test requirements your panels are designed against — the forming tolerances and joint consistency needed to satisfy them are established at the bending stage, not at final assembly.

    Escolher o processo

Panel bender, press brake or roll forming for elevator parts?

Elevator manufacturers need all three processes. The value of getting the split right is that each machine only does what it is efficient at.

    Porquê a STON

Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Qingdao, one hour from major export ports and the airport. Casting, heat treatment, machining, welding, assembly and inspection all happen inside our own 20,000㎡ factory. That is why a configuration change for a 2800 mm cabin panel line does not become a six-month subcontracting problem.

    Apoio que acompanha a linha

Elevator projects run to building handover dates. A panel that arrives with a visible joint step is rejected on site, not in your shop, so machine accuracy and fast support are the same conversation.

Questions we get from elevator manufacturers

    Perguntas frequentes

Can a panel bender form 1.5 mm stainless landing door leaves?
Not at full bend length. STON cast-iron frame panel benders are rated to 1.2 mm stainless steel and 2.0 mm cold-rolled steel at full bending length; welded frames are rated to 1.0 mm stainless. A 1.5 mm stainless landing door leaf belongs on a press brake, or on a substantially reduced bend length. This is the most common mismatch in elevator enquiries and we confirm it against your drawings before quoting rather than after delivery.
How straight will a 2500 mm cabin wall panel be?
Straightness is approximately 0.2 mm per metre and angle accuracy approximately ±0.5° per metre, with dimensional accuracy around ±0.1 mm per metre. Grating-ruler offset-load detection monitors bending pressure and part alignment in real time on long panels. These figures are verified at commissioning against your own parts.
Will the machine mark hairline, mirror or PVD-coated stainless?
The blank is picked up by vacuum and rotated in the air rather than dragged across a table or back gauge, so the decorative face is not in contact with the machine. Protective film can be left in place through forming. On the punching side, the brush and steel-ball composite table is specifically designed to carry filmed and coated sheet without scoring it.
Which model do we need for a 2800 mm cabin panel?
Model D+ with a 2800 × 1500 mm maximum forming size, cast-iron frame. Model D covers 2500 × 1500 mm. Machine size should be chosen by your longest panel rather than your average part — buying one size down and splitting long panels into two pieces creates a joint that has to be hidden, which defeats the point.
Can it produce dead edges and arc returns on architraves?
Yes, on a flexible edge folding machine, which performs arc bending, dead edge (hemming) and offset alongside positive and negative bending, with a minimum bending height of 4 mm. Many elevator shops run a panel bender for cabin walls and a folding machine for architraves, skirtings and toe guards.
How much does an elevator panel forming cell cost?
There is no list price, because the cell is configured to your panel sizes and finishes. Five factors move the figure most: comprimento de conformação (a D+ 2800 mm machine costs materially more than a C 2000 mm), tipo de estrutura (cast iron is required for 1.2 mm stainless at full length), nível de automatização (manual vacuum-assisted, truss loading, or a full cell with stacking), o conjunto de ferramentas including custom knives for jamb and architrave profiles, and âmbito — whether laser blanking and a press brake for 1.5 mm work are included. A single bender and a full integrated line differ by roughly an order of magnitude. Send your longest panel drawing and we return a configured quotation within 24 hours.
Do the machines help us meet EN 81-20 requirements?
EN 81-20 and EN 81-50 apply to the finished lift installation and its components, not to the forming machine. What the equipment contributes is the dimensional consistency and joint accuracy your panel assemblies need in order to be tested and accepted against those standards. The machines themselves are CE marked under Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC with risk assessment to EN ISO 12100 and safety control functions to EN ISO 13849-1.
Can it connect to loading systems we already own?
Yes. STON panel benders keep a native automatic loading and unloading interface and can be matched with most robotic arm and gantry brands on the market, alongside STON's own truss system and Bronte robotic arm. For 2.5 m panels, automated loading is usually the fastest single reduction in surface scrap.
Qual fonte de energia e ar comprimido é necessária?
Panel benders and folding machines require three-phase 380 V power and 0.6 MPa compressed air. Turret punch presses require 380 V ±5% and 0.55 MPa air. Fiber laser units require three-phase 380 V, with recommended supply capacity depending on laser power. Voltage and frequency are configured for the destination country before shipment.
Yes — these are among STON CNC's main export markets, and several have substantial domestic lift industries. Supply voltage and frequency are configured to the destination before shipment, CNC and HMI language can be localised, and machines carry CE marking under Directive 2006/42/EC where required. Export documentation, packing and container loading are handled in-house in Qingdao.
How do we confirm our panels can be made before committing?
Send drawings for your longest cabin panel and your thickest stainless door leaf — those two parts define the machine. Our pre-sales engineers review them and provide free sample parts to validate feasibility, optimise the bend program and tooling, and confirm which parts belong on the bender and which belong on a press brake.
